The Aftermath Is Out In The World!

A couple years ago, I stayed up way too late playing a video game which resulted in me having an AWFUL nightmare where I was stuck in a game. From that nightmare, a book idea was born. The title changed a few times over the last couple years--from The Way the World Ends to The Wasteland and finally to The Aftermath, and I am so thrilled that novel is in stores. Today.

This is one of those days I've always dreamt about, and now that it's finally here, I'm pinching myself. I'm so grateful to the amazing team at Foundry Literary + Media and Harlequin Teen for believing in my books. You guys have made my dreams come true.

Okay, now that I've made myself all teary-eyed, I think it's time to announce my release day giveaway. Because I'm obsessed with video games and The Aftermath is about a role-playing game, this morning, I pre-ordered THIS:

Which ... I'm giving away to one of you guys along with a signed hardcover copy of The Aftermath!

The Aftermath ARC Giveaway

I'm thrilled to announce that The Aftermath ARCs are here! I received them yesterday. I may have went a little crazy with taking pictures of the precious (like at Chipotle, the post office, the mall, in my car ... you get where I'm going with this) but here they are:

And the full cover ...

Sometimes, I dream that I'm someone else.
A girl with dark hair who doesn't worry about hunger
or thirst or running from flesh-eaters.
In her world, those sorts of things don't exist.
Since the spring of 2036, when the world changed forever, Claudia and a small clan of survivors have roamed the streets of a very altered Nashville: polluted and desolate, except for the ever-present threat of cannibal Hoarders. Together they must undergo punishing tests of endurance and psychological challenge sometimes with devastating consequences all just to live another day.
With food and water in dwindling supply, and with danger lurking around every corner, no one can be trusted. And as her world starts to make less and less sense, Claudia begins to realize something terrifying: she is just a pawn in some sort of game, and all of her actions are being controlled from afar by a mysterious gamer. So when she meets a maddening and fascinating outsider named Declan, who claims to be a game moderator, she must decide whether to join him in exchange for protection and access to the border.
If they play the game right, they are each other's best hope for survival and a life beyond the only world Claudia's ever known: the terrifying live-action game known as The Aftermath

I'm dying to share this book with the world, so I thought what better way than a giveaway? That's right, I'm giving away an ARC of The Aftermath and a Kindle Paperwhite to one winner. The contest is open internationally and ends 5/13/14, so enter now!

I Have News!

Since I'm revising my YA sci-fi novel right now, I'll keep this pretty short (although I'll definitely write an extended version very soon) and try to refrain from using a million exclamation marks, but . . .

I OFFICIALLY HAVE AN AGENT NOW!

After several offers and a week of very little sleep, my work is represented by the amazing Mollie Glick at Foundry Literary + Media. I'm incredibly excited to be working with her. Like so excited, I'm surprised my husband hasn't bought earplugs to tune me out.

For now, I'm getting back to revisions, but Taryn Albright--the co-founder of Teen Eyes--interviewed me on her blog yesterday. Just so you know, she's fantastic!

And look at that--I only used four exclamation marks in this entire post!
